New CJI Superintendent candidates to be interviewed




CJI Superintendent

The Board of Trustees of School District #48 1-J and 2-J voted at their regular meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011 to interview the following candidates for the position of District Superintendent. These are in alphabetical order. The interviews are tentatively scheduled for Monday, Feb. 28th and Tuesday, March 1st. The person selected will begin serving July 1, 2011.

Craig Barringer is currently serving as Pre-K and 6-8 principal at Conrad Schools in Conrad, Montana. Craig has been in Conrad since 1998. Before that he served as a teacher in Cut Bank from 1991-1998 and inn Fort Benton from 1986-1991. Mr. Barringer attended Western Montana College in Dillon, Montana and graduated with a B.A. in Elementary Education in 1986. He attended the University of Montana in Missoula and received a Masters Degree in Ed. Leadership in 1998.

Rita Chvilicek is currently serving as Assistant Principal of Rosemary Clarke Middle School in Pahrump, Nevada. She has served in her current position since Nov. 2008. She has teaching experience in Manse Elementary in Nye County School District, Pahrump, Nevada and Rosemary Clarke Middle School and J.G. Johnson Elementary School in Pahrump Nevada. Rita attended Carroll College in Helena, Montana and graduated with a B.A. in Education in 1989. Rita completed a Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2007.


Bart Hawkins is currently serving as a HS/JH Social Studies Teacher in Highwood, Montana. Prior to this experience, Bart has taught in Dodson, Montana, and as a substitute teacher in Arlee, Montana, Target Range School District in Missoula, Montana and Dutton Brady School District in Dutton, Montana. Bart attended the University of Montana in Missoula and earned a B.S. in Secondary Education in 2005 and expects to complete requirements for a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Montana in May of 2011.

Paul Huber is currently the Grant Coordinator for Wolf Point School District, Wolf Point, Montana. Paul served as District Superintendent in Wolf Point form 2003-2007, Superintendent in Bainville, Montana, from 1997-2003 and in Roy, Montana from 1995-1997. Paul was Vice-Principal in Glendive, Montana from 1984-1994 and a teacher in St. Regis and Dodson, Montana from 1977-1984. Paul received a Bachelor’s Degree from Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas in 1971 and a Masters Degree in General School Administration from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana in 1982.

Larry Markuson is currently serving as Superintendent of Schools in Hot Springs, Montana. Larry has been in this position since July of 2003. Prior to that Larry taught and coached in Whitewater, Montana from 1995-2003. He also has one year of teaching experience in Jordan, Montana Garfield County High School. Larry earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana in 1992 and a Master of Science in Education from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana in July, 2003.

Daniel Wendt is High School Principal in Cut Bank, Montana. Daniel has served in this position since August of 2009. Before that Daniel was Business Education Teacher and Computer Coordinator at Fort Benton Schools in Fort Benton, Montana for seventeen years. He also has four years of teaching experience in Dubois, Idaho. Daniel graduated from Montana Tech in Butte, Montana in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and for the University of Montana in 1987 with a teaching license. In 2002 he earned a Master Degree in Educational Administration from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana.
